Surprise Party is this wkd! June 11th starting at 2pm!

So we've been counting down the days until June 11th to celebrate our surprise 40th anniversary party for our parents.  It's a little daunting as I was a part of a wedding shower with my Mom last weekend which she had planned.  The food was so beautiful that we were afraid to eat it!  It's hard to compete with excellence.
Here are some recent memories of my mom and dad.
Rob: taking my car on the weekend so he could go buy building materials to work on the house.  Coming back and filling up my car's gas tank.  What a thoughtful guy!   Him sharing with me all of the books that he's recently read and all of the other books that he's interested in reading.  He'd do well to retire and then start a new degree in ???
Lynne: making a gluten free cake for a friend and covering it in fresh fruit so that it looked like a giant umbrella.  Her taking Friday morning to help me clean up my classroom before the end of the school year.  Watching her hem someone's wedding dress and someone else's bridesmaid dress.  Even with her arm being in pain she's still taking time to do odd jobs to bless people.  It's all very humbling.
Rob and Lynne: spending their Sunday afternoon to care for Rob's Mom and spend time with her.  Singing, dancing, walking, talking and and playing at the senior's residence.  What great children they are to their Mom.
You know, my Dad called me late Sunday night 'cause I'd called and asked him to pray for something that I'd lost.  He said to me "did you find your portfolio yet?"  Yep!  Excellent.  Then he invited me to come join him at his Sunday night bible study.  Typical Rob eh?
We're really excited that this party is coming up and can't wait to celebrate with all the amazing guests who have RSVP'ed.
Please feel free to comment and add on other memories.

P.S.  One of my fondest memories of my Dad was when he sold his favorite thing in the whole wide world, his MGB.  You know why he sold it?  So we could have a second bathroom with a shower in the basement.  What an amazing guy!  Come on out and celebrate!

  1. Happy Anniversary Rob and Lynne!
Sorry our family couldn't be with you today. There are about a hundred things on this weekend...okay just a few and Hope is dancing in her ballet performance of Beauty and the Beast. Anyway, We know you are going to have a fabulous time together with family and friends.
Serena is now two-weeks-old. I remember 14 years ago when you stood by us awaiting the arrival of our first-born Mercedes. While we waited, you encouraged and prayed and shared scripture that helped carry me through that toxemic pregnancy. That is but one small example of the many times you have stood by and encouraged us both and built us up in the Lord. You both have had such an impact on Dave and me, in prayer, love for the Lord and you both continue to be an example of unconditional love and ever-open hospitality to so many of us. May you receive the blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ that are always available to you in Him. We love you deeply.
Love Reb, Dave, Mercedes, Zachary, Hope, Justus and Serena Joy.

  2. Heather Northey (2.75 yrs) says "I want a Mr. Dixon pen." and about Mrs. Dixon, "I like your earrings! I want a present for me to eat."
Valarie (5 yrs) "I love your grandchildren"
    Lexie (8 yrs) "40 years??!! That's a lot!"

It is wonderful to be in the overflow of your marriage. You truly are two elephants (in the prophetic sense) who bring strength and stability wherever you go. Your loving example in marriage, parenting, and as adult 'children' is inspirational. Out of your loving relationship with Christ and each other, we've enjoyed the fruits; tea parties, egg hunts, Boomerang kids runs, thoughtful gifts, our date-night with photography provided by Rob. You are like grandparents and parents to so many. We pray they Lord bless you and keep you in ever increasing love, joy, peace and health together.
    Sincerely,
    Julian and Karen
